I started my first batch of indoor seedlings on February 28th, and I will sow a new batch of flower seeds every week until the end of April.
The first flowers I start have the tiniest seeds and take the longest to sprout (coleus, impatiens, begonia, rudbeckias). That’s followed by ageratums and salvias.
In April I sow a lot of seeds for plants I could direct-seed in the ground in mid-May instead, but it’s more fun to give them a head start indoors and be able to protect them from digging squirrels and chipmunks not to mention munching insects.
I will start zinnias, marigolds, cosmos and also tomatoes throughout the month of April.
