Last summer rather than ordering individual hyacinth cultivars for forcing this winter, I chose a couple of mixes instead. My favorite is Punch Bowl from Colorblends because it has this gorgeous apricot-colored hyacinth.
Punch Bowl is a mixture of colors Colorblends calls apricot, banana, cherry and pink grapefruit.
In this photo, Punch Bowl is next to the other mix I ordered from them—Scentsimilla—which is a pretty mixture of pastel blue, pink and yellow hyancinths.
I potted up the bulbs in mid-November and put them in the refrigerator where they cooled for at least 12 weeks. After that cooling period, I removed the pots from the refrigerator a few at a time so they wouldn’t all bloom at once.
The last three pots came out of the refrigerator last weekend and will serve as the grand finale for my indoor flower season.
