I really didn’t know what to expect when I ordered Marshmallow Yarrow seeds and started some seedlings over the winter. I saw lots of photos of the tiny, white flowers, but never any good ones showing the growing habit of these delightful little plants.
The flowers are bright-white and and appear on thin stems with small leaves. The plants prefer full sun, but I don’t have any in my yard, so perhaps that is why my plants tumbled forward. I kind of like that effect! They mixed in with whatever they were growing behind—in this case small marigolds.
Marshmallow Yarrow grows 12 inches tall, and the plants are drought- and heat-tolerant once established. They are also rabbit- and deer-resistant.
I haven’t had any pest or disease problems with Marshmallow Yarrow, and the plants are supposed to be hardy to Zone 3, so they should survive the winter here. If they don’t, it’s easy enough to sprout more plants for next year’s flowerbeds!
