On a recent day when the high temperatures only reached the mid-20s and the wind was gusting to 40mph I noticed this little guy sitting in the sun in the shrub just outside my office window.
House Finches are very susceptible to avian conjunctivitis, so I was afraid he might be sick, but his eyes were clear and when he finally noticed me trying to sneak a photo, he perked right up, hopped a few steps, and flew away.
I think he was just doing a little sun worshiping on a very cold day.
