I had a special visitor for one day last week. A leucistic American Goldfinch landed on one of my tube feeders.
Leucistic birds are lacking the correct amount of pigment in their feathers, but their eyes, feet and beak usually look normal for their species. This is different from an albino bird that would also have pink or red eyes, beak and legs.
I grabbed my camera just in time before another goldfinch bullied my new little friend from the feeder, and I didn’t see him after that. I was really hoping to get a glimpse of the coloring (or lack thereof!) on his front.
