The goldfinches are starting to molt into their spring outfits which always is a bit of a mottled mess of colors for many weeks.
The leucistic goldfinch survived winter and regular bullying from other goldfinches, and he still visits my feeders regularly. While the feathers on his upper back continue to be bright white, he is showing some new yellow feathers between his breast and belly.
