I couldn’t resist trying a couple of Headliner sky series petunias when I saw them at the garden center this spring. They come in colors like hot pink, light pink, red, royal purple and dark purple, and the flowers feature irresistible white speckles on the petals. I chose the lavender ‘Crystal Sky’ which has contrasting, dark-purple veins.
These trailing petunias grow 10 to 16 inches tall with a mounding habit and are supposed to bloom all summer.
Usually by midsummer I’m disappointed in designer petunias like these. Either they slow way down on blooming, or they lose their unusual characteristics and revert back to a solid color. But that doesn’t mean I’m unwilling to keep experimenting!
