I don’t usually use chemicals on my flowers (other than rabbit repellent sprays), but this spring I decided to spray my 3 surviving roses with Bayer Rose and Flower Care and boy did it make a difference. Usually by early July the leaf miners have completely skeletonized the leaves which of course weakens the plants and leads to fewer blooms. This summer the leaves have stayed green and haven’t been bothered by any munching insects.
I also sprayed my hollyhocks because last year sawfly larvae completely decimated the leaves, and Japanese Beetles also like to munch on them (although thankfully our populations of those pests has finally started waning). Again, just spraying once this growing season has made a tremendous difference.
