Some of my visiting feeder birds have been acting goofy lately, and I’m wondering if the culprits are juvenile birds checking out their brand new world.
The other day I watched a House Sparrow spend at least 15 minutes pecking and gnawing at a blown glass flower that sits on top of a metal stake next to our porch.
Then I spied this little finch carrying foliage from one of my daylilies in her beak. She even brought it up to the platform feeder to show everybody.
And this House Sparrow was flying around our yard with a feather (that looks like it came from a goldfinch) in her mouth.
