The fall bird migration continues. I thought the Red-winged Blackbirds had left weeks ago, but a chatty flock showed up to my feeders along with some peanut-hording grackles the other day.
There are always surprises during migration season, and I was glad I decided to do some of my work in front of the bay window last week or I would’ve missed this beautiful Eastern Towhee who stopped in for a drink and a seed snack before moving on. Eastern Towhees don’t travel very far. They spend their winters in the central and southeastern United States.
