My Rudbeckia ‘Cherokee Sunset’ plants always perform well for me, but this year they look awesome. Maybe our lack of humid weather this summer was more to their liking. And even though it feels like I’ve got more bunnies in my yard this year than Japanese Beetles, they didn’t nibble at the plants in the spring like they often do, so the plants got a good head start.
‘Cherokee Sunset’ grows 24 to 30 inches tall with double and semi-double blossoms in shades of yellow, mahogany, orange and brown. They like full sun but tolerate partial shade, and they make excellent cut flowers. Every once in awhile I’ll lose a plant to wilt, but ‘Cherokee Sunset’ has no pest problems (other than the occasional hungry bunny).
