I’m always looking for new annuals to try in my garden, so I like to visit botanical gardens in late summer (especially if there are trial gardens) to see if anything catches my eye. This summer, one of my favorite plant discoveries was Snapdragon ‘Animation Cognac’ which I saw blooming in the trial gardens at the West Madison Agricultural Research Station.
Usually snapdragons start to look a little tired at this time of year, but the ‘Animation Cognac’ plants I saw were blooming like crazy. The flowers are like a burst of sunshine—golden-yellow tinged with pink.
‘Animation Cognac’ plants grow 36 to 40 inches tall and make great cut flowers. I can’t wait to try them in my garden next summer.
