I love old-fashioned cottage garden flowers like snapdragons. I always tuck a few tall ones into my flowerbeds each summer. Sometimes I sprout them from seed, but usually I purchase them from the local garden center.
Both ‘Sonnet’ (20 inches) and ‘Rocket’ (24-36 inches) bloom all summer for me if I deadhead them. They offer a nice splash of color, and it’s fun to watch the bumblebees pry open the “jaws” and crawl inside to get to the pollen.
My snapdragons have never had any disease problems until now. It’s been so wet and humid this summer that even they couldn’t fend off all the fungal and bacterial diseases. Most of my plants have already wilted and withered away.
