When my daylilies started blooming more than a month early this year, I wondered if any of my them would take advantage of the longer growing season and rebloom. It rarely happens in my Zone 5 garden.
For the most part, the answer has been a resounding “no”. So far only 2 cultivars (out of more than 400) have rebloomed, but both of them are doing so with gusto.
‘Coral Rock’Â is a great front-of-the-border daylily. It grows 20 inches tall with 6-inch, coral-pink blooms:
‘Night Rhythms’ is blooming just as vigorously right now as it did at the beginning of the growing season. My plant has 3 sturdy scapes just loaded with buds. The royal purple flowers are a whopping 7 inches across on 28-inch-tall plants. This cultivar was the only one to rebloom for me last summer.
