I was wondering if the migrating birds would arrive a little later this year since the weather has been so chilly. I got my answer yesterday when a pair of grosbeaks appeared. They’re right on schedule.
Last year spring came extremely early which made it fun for gardening but not so much fun for birdwatching. By the time the warblers and grosbeaks arrived in our neighborhood, the trees were fully leafed out and I had difficulty spying on them or taking any decent photographs.
This year I have the opposite problem. Spring is way behind schedule which has made for a frustrating start to the gardening season. However, since the leaves are just starting to peek out, I will have a great view of the migrating birds.
