I don’t get all that excited about hostas, but I’m trying to develop an appreciation for them. Parts of my yard are bordered by “young” oaks (meaning they are only 30 or 40 feet tall right now, not their mature height of 70 or 80 feet), and every year my yard gets a little more shady.
I gravitate toward hostas with lime green or yellow colors in their leaves. This is ‘Sitting Pretty’:
The plant is listed as growing 5 inches tall with an 8-inch spread, but my plant is currently 12 inches tall and 20 inches across (although it should probably be divided).
Like other hostas, ‘Sitting Pretty’ prefers growing in a shady or partially-shady location. The plant sends up lavender flowers in summer and is hardy in Zones 3-8.
