No More Drought?

Last summer we experienced one of the worst growing seasons I can remember, so I’m hoping that things can only improve this year. Despite being weary from shoveling, salting and sanding, all those pesky Alberta Clippers we just endured left us with a gift. According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor report, we received just enough moisture to finally knock us out of “moderate drought” status into “abnormally dry.”

So many of my flowers just melted off their stems last summer, and some plants barely bloomed at all. Even my daylilies, which are supposed to be drought-resistant, sent up very few scapes in an act of self-preservation. The prior year they put on a spectacular show, and I’m hoping I’ll get to see a repeat performance very soon.
