Daylily ‘Charles Johnston’ has been around for more than 30 years, so at this point I guess you could call it a “classic.”
The 6-inch flowers are cherry-red and appear on 24-inch scapes. This daylily is still popular after so many years because it’s a prolific bloomer. The fragrant flowers appear early in the daylily season and just keep on coming.
Whenever I divide this daylily, I usually can’t resist hanging onto the divisions and planting them somewhere else in my yard. One of my plants resides in part-shade, yet it still blooms for many weeks each summer.
‘Charles Johnston’ is a semi-evegreen daylily.
