As we edged closer to the first killing frost, my ‘Figaro Red Shades’ dahlias just kept getting more and more showy. Apparently they live life on the edge.
I hope to add more of them (and siblings ‘Figaro Orange Shades’ and ‘Figaro Yellow Shades’) to my flowerbeds next year because they add such a vivid splash of color late in the season. Even the foliage was impressive–dark green and so healthy–compared to neighboring plants with their growing-season battle scars.
And the bees just can’t get enough of those flowers:
