I like the late-blooming sedums, but the classic, ‘Autumn Joy’, is a little too pale for my tastes. A few years ago I purchased a cultivar called ‘Neon’. It grows 18-24″ tall and the blooms are very bright pink and attractive. Honeybees go crazy for them. Two weeks ago I was trimming a nearby shrub and I accidentally stepped on and snapped off a stalk from ‘Neon’ that was close to blooming. I guess I never disposed of the stalk because today when I was outside I noticed that even though it is lying on its side and is not rooted in the ground in any way, it’s in full bloom. Now that’s a pretty nifty trick!
