I vaguely remember planting my ‘Winky Red and White’ columbine a number of years ago, but I only planted one. I don’t even remember seeing it bloom last year, but some of the flowers must’ve gone to seed because last week I discovered a lovely clump of at least 4 or 5 columbine plants in full bloom under our serviceberry shrub.
‘Winky Red and White’ grows 14 to 18 inches tall in full sun or partial shade. The plants are hardy in Zones 3-9.
The plants are resistant to both rabbits and deer, and the double red-and-white flowers appear in late spring through early summer.
