‘Malaysian Monarch’ was one of the first large-flowering daylilies I ever grew. It was also the daylily that triggered my fondness for watermarks.
‘Malaysian Monarch’ was registered 30 years ago. The flowers are royal purple with a white (or sometimes creamy-white) watermark and a yellow throat.
The scapes only reach 24 inches with this cultivar, but the flowers are large and fragrant. ‘Malaysian Monarch’ looks lovely growing with yellow flowers that match its bright throat. This cultivar blooms in the middle of the daylily season.
