Last spring I planted some trilliums under one of the oak trees that straddles our property. When I’m hiking they always catch my eye as they cover the forest floor with a temporary burst of green and white.
The plants I purchased are slightly different than the ones I see when I’m hiking. My plants have beautiful mottled foliage:
What I didn’t know until recently is that it can take 5 to 15 years for a trillium to bloom. Thankfully the plants I bought were already “aged” before I purchased them, and it looks like one of them may indeed bloom this year:
Trilliums grow 8 to 20 inches tall and bloom (eventually!) in late spring.
