I’m trying out Cosmos ‘Rubinato’ in my flowerbeds this year. So far I’m impressed. I have no patience for floppy seedlings, but my home-sown ‘Rubinato’ plants grew sturdy and strong.
I planted ‘Rubinato’ in the garden in late May and the plants are already 18 inches+ tall.
The best surprise was when the flowers started to open. I love this rich, wine-red color:
We’ll see how the plants perform throughout the summer. Some cosmos bloom so hard that they wear themselves out and shrivel up and disappear as the summer wears on. ‘Rubinato’ won a Fleuroselect award, so I am cautiously optimistic.
