This summer I grew ‘Easy Wave Pink Passion’ petunias for the first time. The flowers are dark pink with a splash of iridescent pink in the center.
This spreading petunia grows 6 to 12 inches tall. I was pleased that my plants grew in a nice little mound and didn’t die out in the center later in the summer like so many petunia cultivars tend to do.
It has not been a good summer for petunias. I thought I was just personally having a bad growing year until I visited a local annual test garden recently and saw that their flowers and flowerbeds looked as unruly and unkempt as mine.
I could always rely on the Opera series petunias to stay bushy and healthy all summer long regardless of weather conditions, but this summer, for the first time ever, they died out in the center. It’s not a good look:
‘Easy Wave Pink Passion’ was easy to sprout from seed. I started my plants indoors in mid-March. I got great germination and the seedlings were easy to care for.
As far as growing behavior, I give this cultivar two thumbs up. My only complaint is that the color doesn’t excite me all that much, but that’s just my own personal taste.
If you need a reliable, pink petunia that will bloom all summer you can’t go wrong with ‘Easy Wave Pink Passion’.
