My flowerbeds have endured a couple of light frosts so far, but no killing freeze. Some of my annuals and roses are still sending up fresh flowers, but the perennials conked out weeks ago. Well, except for ‘Full Moon’ Coreopsis. That crazy plant is now blooming in its fifth month.
Next spring I am definitely getting one or perhaps two more of these great plants (assuming this one survives winter—the final test). The flowers grow on sturdy stems and the plants will keep blooming even if you don’t deadhead them. I haven’t touched my plant since late August which is why I was so surprised to still flowering in November.
‘Full Moon’ Coreopsis grows 18-24 inches tall. The plants don’t have any special soil or water needs and are drought-tolerant once established. The plant is happiest growing in full sun but will tolerate partial sun.
The light-yellow flowers mix well with hot or cool colors and they are a beacon for pollinators like bees, wasps and butterflies.
‘Full Moon’ is hardy in Zones 5-9.
