Garden Winner: Dwarf Goatsbeard

One of my favorite shade/partial-shade perennials is dwarf goatsbeard (Aruncus aethusifolius). They are very polite little plants that grow 10 to 16 inches tall in a nice, tidy clump. In late June they send up pretty white flower plumes.

The plants are great next to garden paths because they remain upright and the delicate, ferny foliage is real eye-catcher:
