Butterfly Weed ‘Hello Yellow’

If you want to hop on the bandwagon to support struggling pollinators like honeybees and Monarch butterflies, butterfly weed (Asclepias tuberosa) ‘Hello Yellow’ is a great perennial to add to your garden.

The native butterfly weed has bright orange flowers, but ‘Hello Yellow’ adds a golden-yellow color to the palette of this easy-to-grow perennial.

‘Hello Yellow’ grows 2 to 3 feet tall in full sun (although it can tolerate part-sun) and is deer-resistant and drought tolerant.

Bees, butterflies and other pollinators are attracted to the nectar, and the leaves can serve as a host for Monarch butterfly caterpillars.

‘Hello Yellow’ blooms throughout the summer and is hardy in Zones 4-9.
