Recently I sang the praises of Dianthus ‘Cherry Jolt’ which is a long-blooming annual that I’m currently growing in my flowerbeds for the first time. Last year I tried and loved sibling ‘Pink Jolt’ which is blooming like a fool again for me this summer:
I just love these plants because they are so easy to grow. No pests or diseases bother them, and that vibrant pink color can be seen from a very long distance. They start blooming about a month later than most of the other annuals I grow, so it’s always a fun surprise to see something new appearing in mid-July.
‘Pink Jolt’ grows 16 to 20 inches tall. The violet-pink flowers have fringed petals and the centers have a bright-fuchsia ring.
My favorite color combination this summer is ‘Pink Jolt’ with ‘Milady Deep Blue’ Asters. I just can’t stop snapping photos of these rich colors together:
