Mystery Coneflower

I bought this coneflower back when hybird coneflowers first became all the rage. Most of them were lucky if they survived a winter in my backyard, and I soon went back to growing just the native coneflowers.

But this plant has continued to return faithfully year after year. I usually don’t notice it until I’m weeding because it comes up late and tends to gets buried among daylilies and other taller neighboring perennials. I should really move it to a more prominent location.

I don’t even know the cultivar name anymore, but I’m guessing it’s from the Big Sky series. I like the purplish glow on those salmon-colored petals.
