The other day I noticed our neighbor’s burr oak tree has a burl growing on a north-facing trunk.
Burls can signal that a tree is experiencing stress.
This same tree dropped newly-formed leaves in early summer of 2016 and 2017, but last year it seemed to be back to its normal self. I guess I need to start worrying about its health again.
