I pulled all of the leaves out of my flowerbeds the other day. They drop from the neighbors’ oaks and hickories after fall clean-up, and they create a thick carpet on top of all of my emerging perennials.
There were more signs of spring to be found.
I turned up a Woolly Bear caterpillar:
And my grandma’s old-fashioned bleeding heart was busy under that pile of leaves:
And all of my daylilies and sedums are already popping out of the ground:
