This year I almost missed apple blossom time at our local arboretum. The temperatures jumped well above normal in early May, and all the plants went into hyperdrive.
In years past, the lilacs would bloom first. Then the crabapples and apple trees would put on a show.
But this year it appears the reverse was true. The lilacs were still going strong when I visited the arboretum.
There were still a few trees apple and crabapple trees with blossoms to sniff, but most of the trees were already done. The ground beneath them was littered with pink and white petals.
The remaining trees and shrubs that were still blooming had their own paparazzi.
