The last two wet summers (and possibly a third this year) have provided excellent growing conditions for my Yellow Corydalis plants. I stuck them along the lot line in our backyard hoping they could help to crowd out the Bishop’s Weed which tries to take over the world.
These plants also self-seed (manage-ably!) and I’ve let them grow wherever they pop up. Now I have a nice solid line of them growing in front of our yard border arborvitaes.
Each individual plant grows in a tidy little clump that gets a flush of fragrant yellow flowers in the spring, and then the plants bloom sporadically throughout the summer (as long as conditions aren’t too dry).
Yellow corydalis is hardy in zones 3-8 and can tolerate full sun (if well-watered) to full shade.
