Oh sure now that we’ve all been told to stay at home for the next 4 weeks and only venture out for groceries or medications, some of the birds that I haven’t seen in months have suddenly started showing up at my feeders again.
For the first time ever, I didn’t tally a Hairy Woodpecker during my Feederwatch counts all winter, but yesterday one was happily yanking peanuts from one of the hanging feeders!
And I haven’t seen a Blue Jay for weeks—now there are three of them stealing all the peanuts from the platform feeder.
I’m going to have to put out tiny rationing signs (“One per customer, please!”) if my seeds and peanuts are going to last through the end of next month.
