One of my newest daylilies is blooming for the first time. This is ‘Stargate Portal’ and it had me at “watermark.” The creamy-lime throat is fetching enough, but I’m simply in love with that stunning lavender-blue watermark.
‘Stargate Portal’ is a mid-late bloomer. It’s a great back-of-the-border plant growing 40 inches tall with 6-inch flowers.
My only complaint is that my plant is a bit rude. All the flowers that have bloomed so far have faced a cotoneaster hedge that borders our property. I’ve had to do some pretty creative balancing and contorting to see any of the flowers or get any decent photographs.
