In 2013 I planted a hybrid echinacea with screaming-red flowers called ‘Sombrero Salsa’. It bloomed for 2 or 3 summers and then disappeared completely. In fact I even removed the plant stake assuming it had died.
Last summer the plant surprised me by coming back to life. I figured it was a fluke, but I made sure to clear some space around it so it had plenty of light.
Sure enough ‘Sombrero Salsa’ is back again this summer to delight me with those vivid red flowers.
