A Plethora of Pollinators

If you want to help pollinators, plant some allium ‘Millenium’ plants and watch your flowerbeds come alive.

Soldier beetles who’ve been absent all summer suddenly show up out of nowhere as do wasps and bees of all kinds.

When I watch the honeybees and bumblebees buzz frantically around the allium flowers like its their last day on earth, a line that’s repeated in the musical “Hamilton” comes to mind: “Why do you write like you’re running out of time?” Just insert “collect nectar” instead of “write.”

I guess it’s because they ARE running out of time. Summer will soon be over.
