The pollen count was crazy during planting season this year. I never used to be allergic to tree pollen, but now I’m one of the 25 million Americans who suffer with hay fever each spring.
For days the perennials looked like they had been sprinkled with spices:
And the little pop-up greenhouses I use to harden off my homegrown annuals were just covered in little gold grains:
Every time I zipped and unzipped the openings to move the plants, I got a faceful.
We are surrounded by oaks and hickories which produce a lot of pollen that needs wind for dispersal. This year it seemed like most of it just piled up in our yard!
