Tulip ‘Passionale’

I have two amaryllis bulbs that still have scapes yet to open, so my amaryllis flower display lasted from Thanksgiving until past Valentine’s Day!

Now it’s on to the spring bulbs. My husband pulled the first few forced bulbs out of cold storage two weeks ago, and already I have some blooms.

Triumph Tulip ‘Passionale’ won the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit in 2010.

The flowers are lilac-purple and appear on 16-inch-tall plants that prefer full sun and well-drained soil.

When it’s outside, ‘Passionale’ blooms in April and May, and the bulbs are hardy in Zones 3-7.
