It’s always fun to find blooming things in my yard after the flowerbeds have been “put away” for the season. Late last week I noticed another pansy blooming in the crack between our garage slab and driveway.
In September I took some of the spent flowers and buried them in the nearby gravel to try to get more plants to grow. It appears that strategy worked! Now they just have to survive 5 months of winter and early spring.
I also found a rose blooming in one of my perennials beds. The tag is missing and I don’t remember the name—it’s been growing there for more than decade–but if our weather stays mild, there are more buds on it ready to pop.
