I started growing ‘Alumia Vanilla Cream’ marigolds 9 years ago and I still include them in my annual flowerbeds. Back then I wrote:
‘Alumnia Vanilla Cream’ grows 10 to 12 inches tall on sturdy stems, and the flowers just keep coming all summer long. I was afraid the pale color would bore me, but I was charmed by this little marigold. It’s a wonderful border plant and I can’t think of another color in the garden that this plant wouldn’t complement.
This Fleuroselect Novelty Award winner is perfect for the front of the border. I use the cool, cream color to break up other drifts of flowers that might otherwise clash.
I start my plants indoors 5 weeks before our last frost date, but you can also sow seeds directly outside. I’ve always had excellent germination with this cultivar.
