The adorable ‘Stella in Yella’ is usually the first of my 400+ daylilies to bloom in my flowerbeds each year. This year I thought it had been scooped by ‘Scarlet Orbit’ which I discovered blooming on June 25.
But then I remembered that I have a second ‘Stella in Yella’ growing in another location under a mulberry bush. I looked for it and sure enough! Not only did it have 3 blooms open, but there was one spent bloom from a previous day.
‘Stella in Yella’ grows 12 inches tall with 3.5-inch flowers and has the same heavy blooming (and reblooming) characteristics of the famous ‘Stella D’Oro’, but the flowers are bright yellow rather than gold.
