My favorite Benary’s zinnia color is hard to nail down. I’m especially partial to ‘Salmon Rose’, ‘Coral’ ‘Bright Pink’ and ‘Deep Red’.
‘Coral’ is what I would call cerise–a reddish pink. The flowers are gorgeous and look great with yellow, gold, purple and lavender companions (and of course, white).
Benary’s zinnias grow 40 to 50 inches tall on sturdy stems. I never have any pest or disease problems except for the American Goldfinches that like to land on the flowers and yank out the petals.
If you deadhead them, Benary’s zinnias will bloom until frost, and the flowers attract pollinators like honeybees, bumblebees and butterflies. And the hummingbirds that visit our neighborhood love to visit the red-hued Benary’s Zinnias like ‘Coral’.
