I’m partial to amaryllis flowers that have striations or stipples of color in the flower petals. This is ‘Exception’. This amaryllis cultivar has white petals with raspberry-red striations and streaks on the lower petals, while the upper petals are more heavily splashed with red.
The flowers are 6 inches across and the stalks grow about 24 inches tall.
The bulb I potted up in mid-November sent up two flower stalks that peeked out of the pot just a few days apart. One is currently blooming with four flowers, and it’s 23 inches tall. The second stalk is about 8 inches behind. Thankfully I’ve barely had to turn the pot to keep the stalks straight.
‘Exception’ is a Dutch amaryllis with outfacing flowers.
