A Late ‘Margaret Seawright’

Daylilies rarely rebloom in my Zone 5b garden, so I was shocked to spot this one blooming the other day. There is no tag, but I think it’s ‘Margaret Seawright’:

This daylily probably stopped blooming in mid-August at the latest. We’ve only had two days with any measurable rain since then, and I haven’t watered it.

I’m surprised the plant thought it would be a good idea to put its energy into flowering one last time, but it was a nice surprise to see in mid-October among all the other dried-up perennials.

Margaret Seawright’ grows 24 inches tall with 5-inch flowers, and blooms whenever she darn-well feels like it! 🙂
