I don’t grow a lot of small daylily cultivars. One exception is ‘Siloam Bye Lo.’ It’s a rose daylily with a cute little red eyezone on 3-inch blooms. I was deadheading near it this summer when I was greeted by the most heavenly scent. I stuck my nose in a bloom to be sure. Yup, that was it! What a wonderful fragrance for such a small daylily.
I planted a new daylily behind ‘Siloam Bye Lo’ this spring, a red called ‘Over There.’ I was concerned the colors might clash if they bloomed at the same time. I didn’t need to worry. Oh they bloomed at the same time all right, but the color combination turned out to be my favorite of any in the garden this summer.
