I haven’t spent as much time out in my garden this summer as I usually do. That was made crystal clear to me the other day when I noticed my ravaged ornamental kale plants. The last time I saw them they were about to fill out and show some color. Clearly someone’s been very busy, and it wasn’t me:
Not only did I miss all the little green caterpillars enjoying their free salad bar, but I’ve slacked off for so long that some of them have already begun pupating.
This little beast will hatch into a ‘Cabbage White’ butterfly:
