‘Amber Sunset’ is the first daylily that caused me to “Oooo and ahhhh.” I was only growing a handful of cultivars back then—mostly miniatures—and I just didn’t understand what all the excitement was about.
When I saw the gorgeous blooms of ‘Amber Sunset’, I had a change of heart. I started to see daylilies as a showcase plant, not something you shove into a corner of the yard where nothing else will thrive.
‘Amber Sunset’ is an older cultivar (1976) and grows 32 inches tall which makes it a great choice for the back of the flower border. The 6-inch blooms are dark orange with a gold throat. This evergreen daylily is fragrant and a mid-to-late-season bloomer.
