We’ve had a little taste of spring over the last few days, and the snow piles have been beaten back to the shady areas of my yard. I know I could damage the grass by walking on the lawn while it’s thawing out, but I just couldn’t resist taking a little stroll yesterday to search for signs of spring.
Now that the tulips are no longer being squished under all that snow, they are starting to push their way out of the ground.
I planted more than a dozen new tulip varieties last fall including species, Darwin, Double Early, Greigii and Emperor tulips. I even threw in a few daffodil bulbs for good measure. I’m excited just thinking about all the new blooms.
You can bet it will snow a few more times before that happens—this is Wisconsin after all—but soon the warmer weather will put up a bigger fight, and I will find my house surrounded by color.
